Whitireia New Zealand, previously called Whitireia Community Polytechnic (Māori: Te Kura Matatini o Whitireia) is a government owned and funded tertiary education institute in New Zealand. It has grown since its establishment in 1986 on the shores of Porirua Harbour, to have student numbers in excess of 7,500 with campuses in Auckland, Wellington, Kāpiti and Porirua.
Whitireia was founded in 1986 in Porirua and was originally named Parumoana Community College. It was renamed Whitireia Community Polytechnic in 1989 and Whitireia New Zealand in 2010.

The college expanded further by taking on the evening and day time education of apprentices, technicians and professionals. Nelson Marlborough Institute of Technology (NMIT) is the largest public Tertiary Education Institution at the Top of the South Island in New Zealand. NMIT’s main campus is in Nelson with other campuses in Blenheim, Marlborough and a new Global Campus in Auckland. It has been providing tertiary education in the Nelson-Marlborough region since 1904. NMIT offers 100 programmers at certificate, diploma or degree level across a broad range of areas and has a yearly enrollment of around 3,000 equivalent full-time students, locally, nationally and internationally.
NMIT is an NZQA approved Category 1 tertiary education provide and ISO 9001 certified.
The region’s economy includes New Zealand’s largest concentration of fisheries, wine and aquaculture. It also has substantial forestry, horticulture, aviation, tourism and arts industries as well as a sizable conservation estate, including three national parks. Southern Institute of Technology (SIT) (Māori: Te Whare Wānanga o Murihiku) is one of New Zealand’s largest institutes of technology, with over 12,000 students in 2011.
Established in 1971, SIT has since become famous for its Zero Fees Scheme. The scheme, which is open to New Zealand citizens and permanent residents, sees students save thousands of dollars on the cost of their tertiary education. The Institute is also renowned for the quality of its facilities and equipment.
SIT’s three main campuses are located in Invercargill with other campuses located in Queenstown, Gore, Christchurch and Auckland. Students can study from anywhere in New Zealand and the world via SIT’s distance education faculty, SIT2LRN.
